Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions relate to the delivery of ThistleBee Retreat daytime reading retreats. Our reading retreats are designed to be small and cosy so space is limited. Late cancellations will impact the viability of running such an event. By signing up to one of our Retreats you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.

This agreement is between ThistleBee Retreat (“The Company”) and you, the retreat guest (“The Reader”). The daytime reading retreat will hereafter be referred to as the “Retreat”.

1. Cancellations or changes by The Company

1.1 The Company will endeavour to run the Retreat on the day and at the location as advertised. However, if circumstances beyond our control make this impractical we will seek to rearrange or cancel at our discretion. 

1.2 Where a Retreat is cancelled, our only liability to you will be to refund the total of the fees which we have received from you in respect of the Retreat, less any previously processed refunds. 

1.3 If another venue is secured within a 15 mile radius of the original location on the originally advertised date, The Company will consider the terms of the original Retreat to remain the same.

1.4 If another venue is secured outside of a 15 mile radius of the location on the advertised date, The Company will advise The Reader of the new details and will request that The Reader reconfirm their booking within 24 hours of the change notification. If The Reader does not to reconfirm the booking, The Company will not be liable for the change of venue. If The Reader chooses not to reconfirm, then refunds will be made in line with the above refund policy.

1.5 If a Retreat is moved to another date, The Company will aim to give The Reader the opportunity to move their booking to this new date. All Terms and Conditions will then apply to this new Retreat. If The Reader wishes to cancel entirely, then The Company will refund the cost of the Retreat less any previously processed refunds. 

2. Cancellation by The Reader

2.1 Cancellations up to 14 days before the Retreat:

2.1.1 The Company will offer The Reader the choice to move their booking to another Retreat if one is available and has space.

2.1.2 If the Reader would still like to cancel, the cost will be refunded in full, less any previously processed refunds.

2.2 Cancellations less that 14 days will not be refunded for any reason as costs will have been incurred. The Company will endeavour to have the gift bag posted to The Reader.

2.3 We are not able to offer refunds or transfers outside of these terms, even in case of illness (yours or others’), unexpected commitments, or changes of person circumstances. With respect, we kindly ask that you don’t request exceptions. Thank you for your understanding.

3. Dietary requirements

3.1 The food at this retreat will be plant-based. No alcohol will be provided by The Company.

3.2 Where the Retreat is held at a venue that has other food and drink items for sale, The Reader may purchase items outside of what is provided as part of the Retreat at their own risk.

3.3 The Company will endeavour to honour your dietary requirements. However the kitchens that we use may also handle allergen-containing food. The Company does not accept any liability for adverse reactions from the food consumed or from items that The Reader may come into contact with on the retreat.

4. Behaviour

Our Retreats are designed to be quiet, cosy havens for reading, with the odd puzzle or craft being carried out when you need to give your eyes (or ears) a break. Time is set aside for a social chat during the lunch break and as our guests are settling in to the Retreat. We welcome audiobooks but ask that our guests wear headphones and that the audio is not loud enough to disturb others. We reserve the right to ask any guest whose behaviour is disruptive or aggressive to leave. No refund will be provided.

5. Animals

Whilst some of our venues may welcome pets, we are sorry but we do not welcome pets on Retreat. Assistance animals may attend with prior warning.

6. Additional needs:

Due to the varied nature of the Retreat locations, not all properties are able to accommodate additional needs. Should you require specialised facilities, you must contact us while booking and we will be able to advise which Retreats might be appropriate.

7. Public Liability:

The Company accepts no responsibility for personal injury or death whilst attending a Retreat.
